How to Print on a T Shirt Printing Machine
T Shirt printing machines use inkjet technology to print images from a computer directly onto a t-shirt, just like your home inkjet printer shoots ink onto paper.
There’s a difference in the ink, of course. Garment printer ink, sometimes it’s called DTG Ink, is designed to adhere to a cotton t-shirt or denim jeans and to last through many wash cycles.
This video talks about DTG Ink or the best garment printer :
Most t shirt printing machines will use some kind of Dupont ink, but it’s usually best to just stick with the ink your t shirt printing machine manufacturer sells or recommends. Repairs can be expensive and the wrong ink can damage your tshirt printer.
The process of printing to your t shirt printing machine is simple, but only if you start with a great image, OR are a pro with photoshop or corel draw.
Getting a Logo or Image ready to print on your t shirt printing machine:
We’re going to use what you do with a DTG brand direct to garment printer as a basis, but they all work pretty much the same.
1. Prepare your graphic – you really need to use a high resolution vector file. If you don’t know what that is, you can find out here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_graphics and you should do more research on the graphics programs you’ll need. Please don’t think you can start with scanning in someone’s business card!
2. Load it into the RIP software. RIP stands for “raster image processing” and basically just turns your vector image into something the t shirt printing machine can use. You can also do a great amount of tweaking of colors and resolutions to really get a great image. Here’s a video of a real pro working with the RIP software
Load your Blank T Shirt onto the DTG Printer Platen
The platen is just a tray that moves in and out of your tshirt printing machine. Instead of a piece of paper moving through your home printer, the dtg printer basically moves the shirt in and out of ti.
You’ll need to follow the instructions from your manufacturer about using pretreatment.
Finishing your custom T-shirt
After printing, you’ll need ot heat press your shirt for about 3 minutes, usually at 340F.
You’re done printing a t shirt on your t shirt printing machine now!
